What we do

Open any card for what it costs, or read the build prices in full below. We are not VAT registered, so there is no VAT to add to anything on this page.

What it costs

Prices are on the page because you were going to ask anyway, and because the half hour it takes to write a quote is a half hour neither of us gets back. Hosting, domain, SSL, backups and monitoring are included for the first twelve months on every build.

Basic £800 One page, done properly. The whole story on one screen, which is harder than four pages and reads better.
  • Built mobile first
  • Enquiry form that arrives in your inbox
  • Analytics from day one
  • First year’s hosting included
About two weeks
Most people want this one Standard £1,500 Five to seven pages, with the words shaped alongside you rather than left as a homework assignment.
  • Copy written with you, not handed to you
  • Search basics done in the structure, not bolted on
  • Form routing, analytics, the lot
  • First year’s hosting included
Four to six weeks
Larger Ask Multiple languages, booking flows, something that moves in a way nothing else does. The Ember8 shape.
  • Quoted per project, in writing, before anything starts
  • No hourly surprises at the end
  • If it is not worth building we will say so
  • First year’s hosting included
Eight weeks and up

Keeping it alive

Our sites are hand written and static. There is no WordPress, so there are no plugins, no security treadmill, and nothing that falls over at 3am because something updated itself while you slept. These plans keep the site current, not upright.

Lights On £20/mo Hosting, domain renewal, SSL, uptime monitoring, off-site backups, and a yearly check that every link and form still does what it says. Free for your first twelve months.
Care £60/mo Everything above, plus 45 minutes of content changes a month (unused time rolls over once), a monthly note on your traffic, and a reply inside two working days.
Partner £100/mo Everything above, plus an hour and a half of changes a month, a review call every quarter, and first claim on the diary when you want something new.

What is not in the price: photography, licensed fonts, paid software, and anything with the word “portal” in it. Those get named and costed before they happen, never afterwards.

Testimonials

Super happy with Brassneck Studio Ltd.

I didn’t want a standard website that looks like a hundred others. Ember8 has its own story and its own style, and the website really needed to reflect that.

Brassneck Studio Ltd created exactly the look and feel we wanted for Ember8: clean, powerful, professional, and a perfect match for who we are.

The hosting and service are excellent as well. The service doesn’t stop once the website goes live. Everything runs fast and smoothly, issues are resolved quickly, and any changes are handled without hassle. Great communication, very customer friendly, and they genuinely think along with you.

When I look at ember8.nl, I think: yes, this is us. And that might be the biggest compliment you can give a web designer.

Professional, reliable, and highly recommended. 5 out of 5.

Games

Made for evenings.

Two in the water. The rest still on the slipway.

Select

Trailer pending Twenty seconds of it, eventually. There is footage. There is also a man who has recut the first four frames eleven times and would like everyone to stop asking.

Nine days at sea.

One dead captain at the foot of the mainmast.

Thirty-one men aboard the brig Merciful, and you slept ten feet from him, and heard nothing at all.

Open what you were never meant to open. Close it carefully and it costs you something you can't get back. Close it quickly and it leaves a mark.

Either way, somebody is keeping count.

Studio

Concerns? Meet the team.

A studio that builds websites and games sounds like a studio that does neither properly. It is a fair thing to wonder before you hand anyone money, so here is the honest answer rather than a slogan.

The team

O

Oliver

Founder & Lead Developer

Builds the sites and the game. A booking flow and a dialogue tree are closer than they look: both are state machines a stranger has to be able to walk out of without help.

J

James

Graphic Designer

Draws the marks and everything that carries one. A logo that has to survive a browser tab and key art that has to survive a store thumbnail are the same problem: be recognisable at the size nobody designed for.

K

Kaj

Lead Writer & Tester

Writes the words, then tries to break them. Clients get copy that survives a stranger reading it. The game gets a script that survives a stranger playing it.

Same skill, two rooms

Every discipline here does the same work on both sides of the studio. The nouns change. The craft does not.

On a website Skill In a game
A checkout that nobody abandons Structure A puzzle that nobody rage-quits
Copy that survives being skimmed Writing Dialogue that survives being replayed
A booking form on a phone in the rain Interface A menu screen on a controller
Six browsers and a very old iPad Testing Every order a player might do things in
Who came, and what they did next Measurement Where they stopped, and why
Search results and a first impression Getting found A store page and twenty seconds of footage

We have the skills to do both.

So we had the audacity to do both.
