Case study
Ember8
Trauma release therapy and breathwork coaching, in the Netherlands. A site that had to work in two languages, get people as far as booking, and carry a health practice's legal pages without frightening anybody.
Who they are
Ember8 works with people stuck in a pattern they cannot think their way out of, and with teams inside organisations. The pitch, in their words, is Break The Loop: you do not need to become someone different, you need to understand what your body is already telling you.
That is a delicate thing to sell on a web page. Push too hard and it reads as a clinic; push too little and nobody books.
What it had to do
- Work in two languages, properly. Not a translate widget. A full Dutch site and a full English one, each written rather than converted.
- Get people to a first session. One route, obvious from every page, with nothing in the way of it.
- Carry the legal pages without dread. Terms, medical disclaimer, privacy. A health practice has to have them; they do not have to read like a warning.
- Need no maintenance from them. No CMS to be trained on, no plugin to update, nothing to break while they are with a client.
What we built
A hand-written static site. Dutch at the root, a complete English mirror underneath it, and a booking route running through both. Minimal and dark, generous with space, the logo in white. The design gets out of the way of what is being asked of the reader.
No framework and no CMS. Plain HTML, one stylesheet, one small script. That is not minimalism for its own sake: it is a site that will still load quickly in five years and cannot be broken by an update nobody asked for.
Analytics went in on day one, which is the part most freelance builds skip. You cannot report on what you did not measure, and the moment to start measuring is before launch, not after somebody asks how it is going.
What they said
Super happy with Brassneck Studio Ltd.
I didn’t want a standard website that looks like a hundred others. Ember8 has its own story and its own style, and the website really needed to reflect that.
Brassneck Studio Ltd created exactly the look and feel we wanted for Ember8: clean, powerful, professional, and a perfect match for who we are.
The hosting and service are excellent as well. The service doesn’t stop once the website goes live. Everything runs fast and smoothly, issues are resolved quickly, and any changes are handled without hassle. Great communication, very customer friendly, and they genuinely think along with you.
When I look at ember8.nl, I think: yes, this is us. And that might be the biggest compliment you can give a web designer.
Professional, reliable, and highly recommended. 5 out of 5.
What happened
Analytics went on the day it launched, so six months of bookings and enquiries are sitting in Umami right now. The number is not here yet because it is Ember8's number, not ours, and it goes on a public page once they have seen it and said yes. A figure quoted without asking is called a guess.
