Games
Made for evenings.
Two in the water. The rest still on the slipway.
Select
Nine days at sea.
One dead captain at the foot of the mainmast.
Thirty-one men aboard the brig Merciful, and you slept ten feet from him, and heard nothing at all.
Open what you were never meant to open. Close it carefully and it costs you something you can't get back. Close it quickly and it leaves a mark.
Either way, somebody is keeping count.
The Articles
Devlog
Written spoiler-free.
- Entry two: everybody had the same haircut Six versions of the dialogue box, a cast who all looked like siblings and had to be redrawn from the silhouette up, a ship that finally has a map of itself, seventy playtest notes that were all annoyingly correct, and an economy of scarcity in which nobody was ever short of anything.
- Entry one: what the playtest found Two rounds of notes, a menu that was giving the game away, a new layer of plot that closed a hole the bible had carried for months, and the art pipeline learning to read a painted-in checkerboard.
Weekly is the goal. Weekly is also what everybody says in entry one, so treat it as an ambition rather than a timetable.
Release
An estimate, not a promise. If it moves, the devlog will say so before the date does.
Every kid in this school has one.
Palm-sized plastic on wheels, tracks or legs, driven with a pistol-grip handset.
They fight them in bin lids, sinks, taped squares on the floor and the drain hollow behind the sports hall. There is an unwritten rulebook enforced by sixth-formers. There is a black market. There is a boy who will trade you a Series Two for whatever is in your pockets and is visibly not to be trusted.
The toys are the only things in the building with any colour in them.
Underneath the craze, there is something the school has quietly agreed not to talk about.
Scuttlers
Devlog
A build log rather than a story one. It is mostly about what broke.
Release
The next milestone is the only one that can kill this: two toys, one ring, no menus, no school. The test is whether people ask for a rematch without being prompted. Anybody giving you a date before that has guessed.
